Financial Advisor Bio

In 1993, Fritz Harnsberger founded Marathon Investment Programs as a Registered Investment Advisory Firm dedicated to using innovative methods in an effort to achieve the highest investment returns with the lowest amount of risk. As a financial advisor registered with the state of California, Mr. Harnsberger is deeply committed to both growing and preserving capital, as well as offering customized products for his discriminating clientele.

Prior to forming Marathon in Santa Barbara, Mr. Harnsberger spent 15 years as a successful engineer with scientific firms such as Ford Aerospace, C.R. Bard Cardiopulmonary Division, ORMCO Orthodontic Division of Sybron, and Optical Radiation Corporation. Mr. Harnsberger holds multiple United States Patents, including one for the Blood Oxygenator, an artificial lung device used daily in open-heart surgery. Additionally, he is credited with the creation of several types of intraocular lenses used in cataract surgery. A lifelong sailor, Mr. Harnsberger also developed and patented a batten hinge to solve a rigging problem common to Hobie Cat 16 racing craft.

Mr. Harnsberger's shift from a distinguished engineering career to financial advisor is rooted in his decades-long fascination with logic and statistical trends. In 1990, with encouragement from his father, a career stockbroker, he began applying his R&D expertise to the financial markets. His innovative methods began earning impressive returns and by 1992 it became clear that his passion was in researching and developing investment management programs on a full-time basis. Since then, he has developed sophisticated methodologies in the areas of risk management, bond management and equity sector rotation.

A native Southern Californian, Mr. Harnsberger graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic University. In 1985, he received his Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University. Mr. Harnsberger has been a resident of Santa Barbara since 1987, where he is an avid cyclist and golfer. He enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children, as well as golfing, sailing, and distance swimming. Fritz Harnsberger possesses the discipline, creativity and innovative spirit essential for success - whether engineering lifesaving devices or applying himself to mastering world financial markets.
